15/04/2023 Dave Hemmingway from the Housemartins, The Beautiful South, The South and the Sunbirds Dave Hemmingway could easily be described as a national treasure. A member of the Housemartins, The Beautiful South, The South and now The Sunbirds. An unassuming musician from Hull Dave walks us through his career and tells us about his latest band The Sunbirds. Being a member of two bands with such a huge catalogue of massive hits made this two-hour special easy to fill with sing-a-long anthems. 29/04/2023 Leee John lead singer from Imagination Could it be just an illusion? No, Carl was fortunate to catch up with Leee John lead singer with the fantastic disco and soul group Imagination. A walk through of Leee’s career as back singer for 70’s disco acts through the huge global success of Imagination in the 80’s and a career that has seen him exploring different genres and work with numerous other musicians and singers this two hour special is a must for fans of his music. | |||||||

06/05/2023 Peter Cox lead singer with Go West Best known as one half of Go West, Peter Cox is also a successful solo artist in his own right. This two-hour special, showcases some of this solo work alongside all the hits with Go West. Hear how he met Julie Roberts when their song was used in Pretty Woman and his thoughts on the music industry. Often described as “white boy soul music” Peter’s smooth voice alongside his long-time musical partner Richard Drummie were responsible for some of the biggest hits in the mid to late 80’s. 16/07/2023 Miles Hunt lead singer from The Wonderstuff Solo artist and lead singer of the Wonderstuff, Miles Hunt has a huge back catalogue of hits and songs from the late 80’s/early 90’s right through to the present. A huge number one with Vic Reeves singing Dizzy was one of the highlights of a long career where Miles has worked with many successful musicians producing a variety of different musical styles. Probably best known for his work with the rock band the Wonderstuff Carl takes a metaphoric walk-through of Miles career to date. | |||||||
23/07/2023 Fred and Richard Fairbrass of Right Said Fred A sometimes controversial duo who straddle the line between comedy records and tongue in cheek commentary on life Right Said Fred had huge success with their singles in the later 80’s and early 90’s. Nonetheless they have played and sung with some of the greats from the last decade and are frequently supportive of gay rights, freedom of speech and Comic Relief. Despite the lack of chart single success every album was a big seller and when you are nominated for a Mercury Music award alongside George Michael and Elton John, you know you must be doing something right. In this three-part series we talk to Martin McAloon, Paddy’s brother, and the bassist with Prefab Sprout about their entire back catalogue and how he ended up duetting with Stevie Wonder playing Alfie. 21/11/2023 Stevo Pearce artists and founder of Some Bizzare Records Often overlooked by mainstream media Stevo is the man who brought us the Some Bizzare record label. Pushing boundaries with some artists and producing perfect pop music with others. From the industrial sound of Einstürzende Neubauten to the chart toppers Soft Cell Stevo chats to Carl about the music and what he looked for in an artist. The Some Bizzare Sampler cassette released in 1981 featured Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Blancmange and The The. Never one to shy away from controversy Stevo doesn’t pull any punches about the state of the music industry. Now producing art in his own right Stevo is back also collaborating with new singers and songwriters over 40 years after he broke the corporate mould of what was expected of a record company. 13/11/2023 Andrew Roachford One of our most talented soul singers and songwriters Andrew Roachford produced one of the most iconic hits of the 80’s. With a spell in Mike & The Mechanics and collaborating with other greats such as Beverly Knight Andrew has consistently produced fantastic songs. His diverse approach to writing and his services to the music industry saw him awarded an MBE in 2017. With a Christmas tour and a new album release Andrew is still at the top of his game and a pleasure to chat to. | |||||||
11/12/2023 Dave Hill from Slade One of the Midlands finest. Dave Hill is back to chat to Carl about the dodgy haircuts, outrageous outfits and their massive Christmas number one. Slade produced many timeless classics from the 70’s and 80’s and often overlooked as influencing many of the great rock bands that followed them. In the mid 70's Slade were rarely out of the top ten and more often than not the top three. Join Carl talking to Dave Hill (lead guitarist) for two hours of all things Slade including a very candid chat about his own battle with depression and Noddy's recent battle with cancer.
