Ian Fisher

Ian became interested in radio from listening to BBC programmes when he was young. Fascinated by ‘Round the Horne’, ‘I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again’ and ‘The Goons’, Ian started in radio when he was still a teenager, broadcasting on Radio Bahrain, in the Middle East.

Since then, he has stayed with radio, being part of broadcasting the start of the first Gulf War in 1991, and the inaugural Formula One race in the Middle East in 2004. Ian has broadcast during every time slot during the day (and night) and brings a great deal of practical experience to the job.

Ian was awarded the Khalifa bin Salman Press Award in 2019 by the Prime Minister of Bahrain for contributions in the media sector.

Away from broadcasting, Ian is a qualified Teacher of English as a Second Language and has taught for over 20 years. He also enjoys travelling and has visited many countries experiencing the huge variety in cultures and culinary traditions (another love) and can discourse on many and varied topics regarding travel, music, motorbikes and interesting people.

Since moving back to the UK in November 2020, Ian has been busy setting up a studio to record Audiobooks and currently has over 20 titles available through Audible, Amazon and iTunes, including the award-winning ‘Ransom Drop’ by Rob Phayre.

Ian joined Outreach Radio in May 2021 and thoroughly enjoys being part of another diverse and enthusiastic team of dedicated broadcasters.
