Valley Park Community Fayre
Chandlers Ford, 27th June 2021

On Sunday 27th June, the Outreach Radio team were broadcasting live from the Valley Park Community Fayre in Chandlers Ford.

Following a successful two days of broadcasting from the Swan Centre in Eastleigh, the team were up again bright and early to set-up for another live broadcast – this time from Outreach Radio’s birthplace in Valley Park, Chandlers Ford.

Between 11am and 1pm, during Jef Powell‘s Full English radio show, Outreach Radio not only provided the sound system for live music, but were also joined by local musician Jake Burdock, who was armed with his guitar and some wonderful tunes.

Hosted by Jef himself, he was joined by Shaun O’Brien, Outreach Radio’s weekday Drive Time presenter, Onur, the Groovy Pelican, and station founder/MD, Osman Sen-Chadun.

This event gave Outreach Radio the opportunity once again to meet with local listeners, raise awareness of the radio station, and talk to them about the work that Outreach Radio undertakes to support the local community.

For example, it’s been over a year since regular church services have been broadcast from St Francis Church in Valley Park, and this event gave the opportunity for the team to meet the wonderful Rev’d. Sarah McClelland in person for the first time.  Test Valley District Councillor, Alan Dowden, was also kind enough to join us live on the radio for a brief interview addressing both the attendees of the event and the listeners tuned in to Outreach Radio at the time.

Armed again with our petition for support of the radio station, (as we’re hoping to make the currently temporary 100.7 FM service that broadcasts across Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, North Baddesley & Romsey a permanent fixture), we had an incredible number of supporters and signatures, which we felt was a testament to the value that Outreach Radio brings to ultra-local communities. We send our deepest thanks to everyone kind enough to sign our petition for their support and encouragement for the work we do on Outreach Radio.

This event was incredibly well organised, and despite the rain that followed in the afternoon, we had a fantastic time, and send our thanks to Paula (photo at the top off this page) from Valley Park Community Centre for inviting us to to join in this event.
